Striker Shortage

As injuries hit, we are looking a bit short up-front. Yes we looked excellent with six in midfield against Newcastle, as did Spain at times in the last big international championship, but I really think we have to at least play somebody who pretending to hold the line up front in our next couple of games.

Who’s it going to be though? Rory Donnelly, the young striker is the only like-for-like player available, and scores regularly enough for the U21’s, but he looked a little lost-in-the-headlights in one of our early European games and I don’t think I’d want him doing more than coming off the bench.

This may seem like an odd call, but I’d go for Roland Lamah. He has the height and is relatively direct, at least for one of our wingers, and I know a lot of our fans at the moment don’t agree with me but I think he’s played reasonably well in the past couple of games. His goal scoring record, as a winger, isn’t bad, and I’m pretty sure he’d silence the doubters if we commited the position to him for at least a couple of games….until Michu, Bony and Vasquez return (which is luckily not too far away).
